From Ghosted:
Twilight settled on the backyard, blue and buzzing with insects. It felt odd to do, and Harry didn’t know if it would work, or if it did what it could possibly achieve, but he called out, “I got a pizza. You can come over, if you’re hungry and want to hang out.”
The ghost appeared.
Harry stepped out of the doorway, gesturing for the ghost to come inside. The ghost floated across the yard and into the house. Harry closed the door behind them.
He had arranged a card table in the dining room with a pair of folding chairs. Paper planes and napkins. A 2 liter bottle of cola. They sat down to eat. The ghost turned to look at the boxes, now crowding the living room.
“It’s a long story,” Harry told the ghost.
They sat, quietly chewing.
“How did you die?” Harry asked. It was more forward than he would typically be, but this wasn’t a typical conversation.
The ghost took another bite of pizza.
Harry understood, that was probably a long story, too.
